Body/Mind Therapy

You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees for 100 miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves.

We constrict our breathing in order to feel less pain.  The messages from the body, whether subtle or profound, become part of an unconscious process that we respond to, often without knowing why.  An unhealthy relationship with food,  alcohol, or drugs, tension and pain in our muscles, and frozen or unbalanced movement are several ways that this unconscious process can get expressed.

Body/Mind Therapy, also known as “somatic psychology,” helps to bring your awareness to your body so that you can get unstuck from what might be a high level of arousal that is often unconscious.   As you learn to self-regulate your body, you naturally reduce your level of internal stress, which helps you to cope more easily with stress in your daily life.
